Black Temple is a level 70 raid located in Shadowmoon Valley. Its an approximately 5 minute flight from Shattrath in Outland.

Mobs:

  • Humanoid
  • Beasts
  • Elemental's

Drops:

  • Greens
  • BoE blues
  • BoP Epics
  • Netherweave Cloth
  • Grey and White Vendor trash
  • Recipes
  • Gems
  • Crafting Reagents
  • Tier Tokens
Pro's

  • There is a vendor inside the instance
  • Can be soloed at level 90.

Cons:

  • Bags get full so frequent vendor trips required
  • Some classes may struggle to solo certain bosses so you may need to take a friend.

Before I started, I emptied my bags of everything to leave plenty of room for items, and as always, made sure that I had relogged to ensure the gold count was accurate.

These are the drops I got.

Gold:

  • Looted: 111g 57s 5c
  • Vendor: 343g 47s 90c
  • Total: 455g 5s 1c
Drops:

  • 3 Pattern: Living Earth Bindings (Binds on Pickup)
  • 1 Pattern: Bracers of Nimble Thought (Bind on Pickup)
  • 32 Mote of Water
  • 5 Pyrestone
  • 6 Lionseye
  • 2 Empyrean Sapphire
  • 5 Seaspray Emerald
  • 5 Shadowsong Amethyst
  • 507 Netherweave Cloth
  • 18 Heart of Darkness (Crafting Reagent)
  • 1 Khorium Lockbox
  • 4 Froststeel Lockbox
  • 30 Vendor/Disenchant greens
  • 9 Transmog Greens
  • 2 Pattern: Shoulders of Lightning Reflex
  • 1 Pattern: Swiftstrike Shoulders
The green items disenchanted to:

  • 55 Arcane Dust
  • 20 Greater Planar Essence
The lockboxes rewarded 6 green items, some of which had WOTLK stats on them and disenchanted to:

  • 5 Arcane Dust
  • 9 Infinite Dust
  • 1 Small Dream Shard
As the gems from TBC era are mostly useless now, I vended these for the 5g per gem they yeilded, and did the same with the Heart of Darkness.

Drops:

  • Greens
  • BoE Blues
  • Recipes
  • Mageweave Cloth
  • Mana and health potions

Today's Farming Favourite is the Green belt in the Wetlands region of Eastern Kingdoms. The Green Belt is located near to the road up towards Grim Batol and is easily identifiable by the Orc's and Dragon type mobs battling together.

The black box is the approximate area we will be farming in.
Mobs:
  • Dragonmaw Whelpstealers
  • Ebon Slavehunters
Drops:
  • Greens
  • Linen Cloth
  • Wool Cloth
  • Silk Cloth
  • Recipes
  • World Drop Blue BoE
  • Vendor greys and whites
  • Gold
Pros:
  • Fast respawns
  • Easy to AoE down at higher levels
  • Gold can be doubled if you farm here using a skinner
Cons:
  • Many Alliance bases in the region so a slight Horde disadvantage.
  • Bags fill fast so regular vendoring or banking may be needed
As always, for Farming Favourites, I spent a specified period of time farming and at the end of that period, took a final count. I made sure that I monitored the gold earned carefully even though I had to use my vendor mount to empty my bags of the trash grey and white drops but this is reflected in the final figure.

I used a character with skinning and leatherworking to farm at the Green Belt.

Farming Time: 1 Hour

Gold:
  • Looted: 7g 21s 42c
  • Vendor gold: 5g 9s 72c
  • Total gold: 12g 31s 14c
Drops:
  • 1 BoE Blue - Feet of the Lynx (Good Twink Item)
  • 1 Transmog Green
  • 16 Vendor/DE Greens
  • 1 Shadowgem
  • 2 Moss Agate
  • 424 Linen Cloth
  • 53 Silk Cloth
  • 328 Wool Cloth
  • 1 Recipe: Elixir of Ogres Strength
Profession Related Loot:
  • 18 Light Hide
  • 15 Medium Hide
  • 1 Rugged Leather
  • 2 Thick Leather
  • 236 Light Leather
  • 214 Medium Leather
The green items disenchanted to:
  • 41 Strange Dust
  • 4 Greater Astral Essence
  • 1 Small Glimmering Shard
  • 4 Soul Dust
  • 3 Lesser Astral Essence.
Whilst the gold certainly isn't plentiful in hard coin drops at this location, the items you loot from the mobs certainly make up for this. Feet of the Lynx can sell for anywhere between 500g to 1500g depending on realm and demand. The cloth (and leathers if you farm on a skinner) can bring in a pretty penny too, with some realms seeing wool cloth sell for 30g-50g per stack.

If like me, you get enjoyment out of farming your supplies rather than just buying everything off the AH, then this is the series for you.

Farming Favourites will cover a variety of locations, instances and raids over a variety of expansions, from Vanilla to Mists of Pandaria.

Each location will come with a breakdown of general Mob types, possible drops, pro's and con's and of course, the results of one instance clear, or an hour of farming, if it is an open world location.

Farm location results will feature the following:

  • Gold: Looted gold and gold from vendored greys and white trash items.
  • Drops: Amount of green items, transmog items, BoE Blue items, BoP blue items, cloth, leathers, gems etc.
  • Disenchant results: what the green and BoP Blue items disenchanted into.
  • Skinning results: leather skinned from mobs (Not looted)
  • Whether I used a character with a profession or not.
It's important to bear in mind that whilst the gold value alone may not look profitable, some of the drops themselves will be highly valued, especially old enchanting materials and leathers, which can sell for a very pretty penny.

My instance guides will assume that you are a fairly experienced player, and already know how to access the entrance portal to these. However, I will include a basic location of Region and Continent. In the case of open world locations, I will try to include a map showing the location of the area.

I hope you will find my Farming Favourites series helpful, and if you have any suggestions for areas that I could check out, then drop a comment and I will check it out.
